Paint Booths
Paint booth airflow can have a significant effect on paint performance in industrial, automotive, and aerospace spray booths. Precisely measuring airflow through the booth is critical to maintaining a quality finish for each part, while minimizing energy costs and safeguarding environmental and employee health & safety. Air monitor sensors and transmitters allow better control of air make-up and air replacement systems used in paint spray booths. Our precision equipment ensures that your booth maintains the recommended airspeed and pressure. Speak With an Application EngineerAir Monitor Solutions Can Help You...
Maintain Balanced Air Pressure
Air Monitor sensors accurately measure airflow and pressure in a paint spray booth to maintain the proper CFM rate. This will help prevent overspray as well as ingress of dust and contamination as air is drawn in from outside the booth. Airflow that is too fast also may cause problems with the paint finish if the coating dries too quickly.Protect Environmental and Worker Safety
Paint booths present a chance of fires, explosions, and chemical exposures for workers. For this reason, OSHA, EPA, and the NFPA have specific requirements for minimum air velocity within paint booths. Clogged filters or malfunctioning fans may reduce airflow below regulations, but an airflow measuring system can monitor for these problems.Ensure High-Quality Finishes
Overspray in a crossdraft booth may end up on the part surface, where it can mar the coating. Monitoring airflow to the paint booth can help ensure the ideal environment for paint adherence. This will lead to less downtime when the booth might be influenced by environmental factors, such as rainy or cold days.Static Pressure Ports S.A.P. – Static Air Pressure Sensor
Airflow Monitor’s recessed mount static air pressure sensor (S.A.P./R) can be used to sense the static pressure within a fan inlet or discharge plenum or large duct, where the presence of multi-directional and turbulent airflows prohibit the use of flow-sensitive static pressure tips or probes.
The S.A.P. can sense room, space, or plenum pressures within 1% of actual static pressure. Applications include room or space pressurization for paint spray booths, dust collection systems, and clean room pressurization.
VOLU-probe SS – Stainless Steel Traverse Probe With Transmitter
The Air Monitor Stainless Steel Pitot Airflow Traverse Probe provides accurate airflow measurement in locations having limited straight duct runs. The probe’s unique dual offset static pressure sensor and patented chamfered total pressure sensor design permit the accurate measurement of the airflow rate without the need for upstream air straightening means.
The VOLU-probe/SS operates on the Fechheimer Pitot derivative of the multi-point, self-averaging Pitot principle to measure both the total and static pressure as air passes through the duct. It is suited for clean or harsh and particulate-laden applications such as paint booths, dust collection systems, and quench airflow.
VELTRON DPT
The VELTRON DPT transmitter is an ultra-low range pressure & flow transmitter. It is capable of receiving flow signals (total and static pressure) from an airflow station or probe array and producing an output linear and proportional to static or velocity pressure.
The VELTRON DPT is furnished with an automatic zeroing circuit which eliminates all output signal drift due to thermal, electronic, or mechanical effects as well as the need for initial or periodic transmitter zeroing.
VELTRON DPT-Plus
The Air Monitor VELTRON DPT-Plus is a microprocessor-based, ultra-low range pressure & flow “smart” transmitter. The VELTRON DPT-Plus is designed to maintain an accuracy of 0.1% of natural span.
The transmitter’s onboard microprocessor performs the functions of operating parameter selection, transmitter configuration, input/ output and display signal scaling, and transducer calibration. Embedded software performs span, flow, and 3-point “K” factor calculations. Input to the microprocessor is via push buttons.
VELTRON II Transmitter
The VELTRON II Transmitter is a microprocessor-based, ultra-low differential pressure, and flow “smart” transmitter. With its ±0.1% of natural span accuracy, it is intended for the most critical and demanding industrial applications.
More About Paint Booth Airflow Monitoring
Material drying in the automotive and aerospace industries is a tricky business. The introduction of polluted atmospheric air can lead to particulate matter entering the paint room, thus causing a low-quality part finish. A space pressurization system coupled with precise airflow monitoring and control leads to a higher-quality paintwork process.
Pneumatic conveyor systems for paint booths in the manufacturing sector are often riddled with problems due to overspray, dust, dirt, and debris that increase maintenance time and costs. Precise airflow measurement is needed in these applications to ensure effective drying and even paint coating.
