Space Pressurization
Space pressure control with airflow measurement systems from Air Monitor is critical to maintaining air quality, product quality, and worker safety in medical facilities, manufacturing plants, and commercial buildings.
Space pressurization control can help avoid contamination of clean areas by dust, pollutants, or other undesirable conditions. Maintaining a balance between low and high pressure in adjacent spaces improves process/quality control, cost savings, and employee & environmental safety in clean rooms, healthcare facilities, and industrial plants, such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, and food & beverage manufacturing.

Design and Implement a Space Pressure Control System
With over 50 years of experience, our technical team ensures that your system will meet the standards that your challenging application requires.Ensure Balanced Space Pressurization
Air Monitor’s static air pressure sensors work together with the best-in-class accuracy of our transmitters to keep your pressure control system running smoothly.Maintain Pressurization in Tough Environments
Air Monitor’s rugged airflow pressure measurement products can operate in corrosive, high-temperature, and particulate-laden air streams.Static Pressure Ports S.A.P. – Static Air Pressure Sensor
The Air Monitor S.A.P. family of static air probes is designed for room or space pressurization applications. These sensors ensure that the static pressure level within a space, and that of a reference pressure (corridor, adjacent space, outdoor location, etc.), are accurately sensed, free of pulsations or effects of air movement in the vicinity of the sensing probe(s).
S.O.A.P. – Static Outdoor Air Pressure Sensor
For accurate measurement and control of room or space pressurization, it is essential that sensed pressure levels be referenced to a common pressure, ideally the outdoor air pressure.
Air Monitor’s Static Outdoor Air Pressure Sensor was designed for accurate and instantaneous sensing of outside static air pressure levels without being affected by wind gusts, rain, or snow.
STAT-Probe – Static Pressure Traverse Probe
The Air Monitor Static Pressure Traverse Probe is designed for applications requiring accurate static pressure measurement in locations having limited straight duct runs. The STAT-Probe operates on the Fechheimer derivative of the multipoint, self-averaging Pitot principle to measure the static pressure component of airflow.
The STAT-Probe is ideal for space pressurization applications such as clean room pressurization and pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and LCD glass manufacturing.
VELTRON II Transmitter
This ultra-low range DP & flow transmitter with auto zero, used in conjunction with static pressure sensors and airflow measurement stations, can measure and help regulate space pressurization in applications such as paint spray booths, dust collection systems, clean room pressurization, and much more.
VEL-trol II Transmitter
The VEL-trol II microprocessor-based pressure and flow Smart transmitter is furnished with an automatic zeroing circuit which essentially produces a “self-calibrating” transmitter when operating in temperature-controlled spaces.
The transmitter incorporates Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control, which permits the controller action to be tuned to the extreme dynamics of the airflow or pressure control process.
Managing Space Pressure Control Challenges in Industrial Facilities
The goal of space pressurization is to either exclude particulates from a room or to keep them within a defined space or enclosure, which can be permanent or temporary.
Exclusion is achieved by maintaining pressure in the room above that of surrounding areas – a positive pressure differential. Air flowing out, from high pressure to low, prevents entry of air that contains particulates. Inclusion or retention is achieved by creating a negative pressure differential. In this scenario each time a door is opened air flows into the room, preventing particulates from leaving.
The need to control space pressurization is critical for applications such as:
- Control room pressure in the power/utilities sector and oil and gas exploration
- Pressurized air in pneumatic conveying at refineries
- Pressurized air to meet purity standards in medicine, food, beverage, and electronic production
However, several challenges commonly arise when trying to set up a pressure control system. These include:
- Design challenges, including duct traverse studies, training, and start-up assistance
- Stability, repeatability, and accuracy
- Tough industrial settings, such as corrosive, high temperature, and particulate-laden air streams
Air Monitor’s rugged product line is tailored to meet your facility’s space pressure control needs. We provide premier airflow and pressure measurement systems to industrial process markets and ensure that your system will meet your challenging application’s standards.
